Welcome to the Chartiers Valley Soccer Association

Chartiers Valley Soccer Association is an organization committed to developing the highest quality youth soccer players.

Site last updated April 25.

Important Notice for In-house:

The rest of the In-house season will be played at the Intermediate school.  U12 will play on the big baseball field.  Please follow your schedule starting with April 19.  Thank You for your patience in this matter.

We now have a volunteer to head Community day.  Thank You for your help. Community Day is May 31.

Notice to in-house parents:

First, the association has secured permits for all the Primary school fields for the weekends and for the Primary school field closest to the bus garage during the school week.  We also have a permit for the Intermediate School oval.  Due to the amount of rain this winter and spring, the school has asked us not to use the Primary school for practice during the week.  We were also asked to delay the start of the season.  The fields are used year round by several groups both school and community related.  The school is attempting to preserve the field for use not just in the spring but all year, and we are working with the school to help in this endevor.

Second, no one has notified the CVSA board concerning games this weekend.  We are not the only organization asked to stay off of the Primary school fields.  LaCross has been asked to stay off for now also.

Finally, we will be checking with the school district to see when can begin practing on the Primary school fields. It will be posted on the website as soon as we are able to begin using them for practice.  There will also be an email sent to the coaches by the age group comisssioners when we can begin to practice on them.  The games will be played this weekend unless there would be a lot of rain.

Thank You,
The CVSA Board

Primary School Fields are off limits for practice until further notice!!!

As soon as we are allowed on the Primary fields the site will be updated!!!

Dear Parents,

We want to thank the members of this association that have taken time to participate in the skill level assessments recently completed for the upcoming spring session.  As has been reported, this board has listened to complaints about the level of competition and the unequal distribution of skilled players for some time.  This winter, we were open to suggestions to how to address this issue and attempt to balance the skills to create better games.  We were approached with the concept of assessing the players in U7 and U9 and creating teams that produced better quality games.  We agreed with the concept and made every attempt to make the assessments happen for this upcoming season.  While we had minimal time to prepare for these assessments, several volunteers spent numerous hours in securing time and space to hold these assessments.  In addition, we were able to reach out to high school soccer players in need of securing volunteer hours for mandatory community service and provide them with an opportunity to participate in this process.  This board is extremely grateful for those that made contributions of time and effort to make this happen.

To be sure, we have a long way to go to get this process right.  Our first evening was a struggle trying to handle the overflow of attendees.  We had minimal space and many kids that showed.  It was a struggle and we appreciated the patience of the majority of parents who supported the efforts of the volunteers.  This week, we were better prepared for the volume of attendees and the night was more productive than the first.  We received many suggestions during both sessions and we appreciated your thoughts and ideas.  This process can only get better with time.

Our message to you is first to thank each of you that attended.  Whether you found value in the process or not, whether you support the idea of equal distribution of talent or not, your presence and cooperation was greatly appreciated. If you have suggestions that you believe would make this process better, we encourage you to become engaged in the association and volunteer your thoughts, perhaps even your time, to making this association what we envision it to be.  For those that could not attend, we hope that you will consider attending future assessments for upcoming seasons.  Our ultimate goal is to provide each player that joins our association with an equal opportunity to make progress while enjoying the social benefits of playing with their friends.  The most common theme we heard from people is that we all agree this is not about winning or losing soccer games.  At these age levels, this could not be more true.

While we cannot guarantee that the games this season will all be close, we feel comfortable that we have started a process that will address the complaints we have heard for some time.  Please continue to support the efforts of those that are trying to make this association better and please... please... step up and volunteer your thoughts and your time to making this association the best that it can be.  You folks are the future of this organization and your support and participation are paramount to its success.

One last thing... This association has spent time progressing our website and utilizing it to post important information.  Please check this website often as we make every attempt to keep each of our members informed.  The website is   www.chartiersvalleysoccer.com

Yours in Soccer,
